SharePoint; But wait, there’s more!
SharePoint sometimes is heralded as the solution to many organizational issues in unstructured data. The truth is, SharePoint can do a great number of things for your organization, even straight out of the box. As Patrick Tisseghem points out on his blog, SharePoint is often times the start of the solution to issues, but not the end.
So far, in our use, I haven't found a place where some simple .NET code, with the excellent platform that SharePoint provides, unable to solve many of the simple data and workflow issues facing small and medium companies.
